Construction of the temporary convent for the formators from the Sisters of Mary of Kakamega (SMK) continues. Much of the old structure was torn down and a new roof was recently added. The sitting room and the dining room were extended to cater to the needs of more sisters, the kitchen was also expanded and the public toilet was created. All bedrooms are made self-contained.
To complete Phase 1 new doors, windows, and tiles for the floor are still needed, in addition to toilets and furniture. This will cost an additional 10,000 U.S. dollars. We hope to raise these funds and complete construction of Phase 1 by November, when two Sisters from SMK plan to arrive. Once that is complete, we hope to move on quickly to Phase 2, in order to accommodate the two remaining Sisters visiting from SMK.
