Landmark Agreement Signed with Sisters of Mary of Kakamega

Today we entered into an official agreement between our Diocese of Same and the Sisters of Mary of Kakamega (SMK) to provide formation for our new congregation, Sisters of Mater Dei Africa. The agreement was signed by the Rt. Rev. Rogath Kimaryo, C.S.Sp., Bishop of Same Diocese; Rev. Sr. Josepha Angeline Atswele, Superior General, Sisters of Mary of Kakamega; and Rev. Fr. Masnsuetus Setonga, Founder/Project Coordinator.

The agreement specifies that the construction of the Novitiate should be completed by the end of the year 2020. While the construction is underway, the candidates will begin Formation by the Sisters of Mary at their center in Kakamega, and after completion return to Tanzania to continue with their formation program. Meanwhile, a convent should be built by the end of 2018 for four sisters from SMK; two teachers and two formatters to start promoting vocations in the diocese of Same. Presently we have two candidates being formed at Kakamega, and seven more candidates have registered to join them next year.

This agreement is great news for the future of our new congregation! Now we will continue the hard work of raising funds for construction of the new convent and novitiate. Please keep us in your prayers and don't hesitate to contact us if you are able to help with a donation of any size.
